NOTICES
THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR B:REFLECTION. St. Paul the apostle gives us some insight into human existence in relation to Christianity when he talks about our life as a matter of faith and not of sight. Cf. 2 Cor.5:7. Ipso facto, human existence is a journey of faith and, as such, we journey ahead more in shadows than in full light, but with absolute trust in God the author and finisher of our lives. And so, while alive here on earth, our relationship with God takes place more by listening than seeing. In seeking His face, as today’s antiphon reminds us, we don’t need to know where He leads us to or how or the paths, ways and means through which He leads us. All we need to do is to listen and follow Him with absolute trust. Regarding this kind of listening, very good examples are provided for us in today’s readings in the persons of St. Paul and Abraham who not only listened but acted with absolute trust in God. Having the capacity to listen is a gift. During this season of Lent, the Church offers us this gift and duty of listening to Christ as the voice of the Father commands us in the event of the Transfiguration.
