NOTICES

THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR A: REFLECTION. There is in the human person an innate desire, an inherent propensity towards knowing what is true, what is original. Notwithstanding side attractions, that is, the attraction offered by cosmetic reality and artificialities of life, the human person still desires to know what is true especially in the midst of the confusions of life. By affirming Himself as the truth, Christ assures us that it is only in Him that our quest and thirst for what is true can be satisfied. As the truth that sets free those who come to know Him, Christ gives us the assurance in this affirmation that only Himself- the Son- that guarantees us the freedom enjoyed by God’s children. Christ’s affirmation of Himself as the Life would sound laughable to those whose definition and meaning of life revolves around worldly pleasures and satisfaction. Nevertheless, life is only tolerable, fruitful, fulfilling and, as such, happy when one has got to a deeper meaning of it.

AS THEIR MAJESTIES King Charlesand Queen Camilla are anointed and crowned today, we pray that God will guide the King in the duties entrusted to him and give him the strength and wisdom to serve his people as he bears the burden of his office in the years ahead. Special prayer cards for the Coronation are available in the porch.

NEXT SATURDAY the Sisters of St Peter Claver will be visiting us to talk about their Missionary work around the world. There will be a collection and we ask that you be as generous as you are able. To learn more about the Missionary Sisters and the work they do please visit Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver (claveriansisters.com)

HALLAM BRIDGE: Issue number 5 is now available to view on the Hallam Diocese Website and there are copies available in the porch. To view the online version visit Bridge Home – Hallam Diocese (hallam-diocese.com)

FOOD BANK – All donations are vital to our local Food Bank and ensures it can continue to operate. Last week the Foodbank delivered to 5 homes and 15 people came to collect from St Mary’s Church. Many thanks to all who contribute and all who run the Foodbank.

MARY’S MEALS PRAYER. Mary, as the mother of Jesus, knew the joys and sorrows of motherhood as she loved and cared for her son. We pray for all those responsible for nurturing and protecting children, especially all parents, caregivers and teachers. Lord, bless all who love and care for children across the whole Mary’s Meals family. Bless each of them as they face the daily challenges to ensure that children are fed, educated and safe. Amen.
