NOTICES

THE THIRTY- THIRD SUNDAY OF THE YEAR A: REFLECTION. In accessing the lessons of the parable of the talents from whichever perspective or direction of approach, it is difficult or almost impossible to rule out the role of passion in human endeavours. Natural endowment or capacity alone without having passion in whatever one does is not good enough to ensure the attainment of success in business or other profit oriented ventures in life. In bringing to the fore the invaluableness and ingenuity of the capable and perfect wife in the first reading, and the usefulness of the overall and ultimate readiness for the day of the Lord in the second reading; the Church draws our attention to the necessity of faithfulness and consistency in living the Christian life. Faithfulness is a word that is necessarily interwoven with consistency and a sense of responsibility. One can hardly be faithful without being consistent in whatever good thing he or she does. Neither can they be faithful without being responsible.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY for those living in terrible hardship in places of war and terror. We think mainly of those in Gaza and Ukraine where so many people are needlessly losing their lives, surrounded by immense suffering, terror and mutilation. Sadly, there are many other places such as Sudan, Yemen and Afghanistan to name but a few. Each Wednesday in our Hall, we meet with people who have fled from oppression and torture, mainly in Africa and the Middle East. We hear their stories. see their injuries and try to help them to overcome fear and mental anguish and give hope of rebuilding their tattered lives. We welcome volunteers keen to live out the Gospel of Christ and help in any way.

THE RED MISSION BOXES are due for emptying. Winnie asks if you can please bring them in over the next couple of weeks so she can relieve them of their contents and send the money to help those in such dire need in other countries.

JUST TWO WEEKS TO GO before we draw the Christmas Raffle and hopefully raise much needed funds for our parish. The raffle will be drawn on 2nd December and there are over 20 wonderful prizes including a meal for four at the Toby Carvery, a chocolate basket, food hamper, puzzles, toys and so much more. So far over £150 has been raised but please try to sell a few more – perhaps ask family and friends to support us. Many thanks for your continued generosity.

FOOD BANK. Donations are vital to the Food Bank and ensure it continues to operate. Last week the Foodbank delivered to 2 homes and 14 people came to collect from St Mary’s Church. Many thanks to all who contribute.
