NOTICES

At this moment of sadness and loss let us pray for the repose of the soul of Prince Philip, the Queen’s faithful and loyal husband. We pray for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and all members of the Royal Family. Our Nation and indeed the whole world will miss Prince Philip’s presence and his character, so full of life and vigour. Prince Philip has been an example of steadfast loyalty and duty cheerfully given. He has done so much for our country and especially young people both at home and throughout the Commonwealth.
May he rest in peace and rise in Glory.

It is with heavy hearts AND ‘DEJA VU’ that we watch the daily news reports showing the return of unrest and protests to the streets of Northern Ireland. These seem to be escalating daily and are reminiscent of the scenes from past decades which we all hoped we would never witness again. Some of this outpouring will be the results of people’s frustrations with months of pandemic lockdown. Some is no doubt attributed to border tensions resulting from the Brexit arrangements. But for the love of God there must surely be no return to the sectarian violence and bloodshed of the past! Has history taught them nothing!?!
We hear today that the violence is enacted by children as young as twelve years old but they are being orchestrated and cheered on by older relatives. Let us pray that common sense and humanity soon returns and the good people of Northern Ireland can get on with their lives in peace, safety and harmony.

PLEASE REMEMBER IN PRAYER Anya Pearson, parents Yvonne and Colin, Tanisha, Amelia and Ellie and all the family members on the tragic and untimely death of Anya’s husband Stan. Stan was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and son-in-law and was untimely taken from us at the age of just 49 years.

The funeral will take place this coming Tuesday, at 11:20am at Rose Hill Crematorium. Family flowers only and donations are to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. All are welcome to the service at the Crematorium but will be required to stand outside due to Covid restrictions. Many of us will fondly remember Anya and Stan’s wedding in our church and the wonderful celebrations we all had together afterwards.

CAFOD WALK FOR WATER – 10,000 Steps a Day. Lilian made an enormous effort to meet the challenge with a magnificent 406,354 Steps!!! Collections have started and so far £70 cash has been given in envelopes plus a further £75 on the Just Giving Web Site. Please be generous and lets help CAFOD to provide clean drinking water for people in many parts of the world. There are envelopes in the porch and on the table as you leave church. While we have been through a terrible year in the United Kingdom, the people CAFOD support spend their entire lives in fear, drought, famine and shocking health inequality.

FOOD BANK – This week the Foodbank has delivered food parcels to 19 homes in the area and 13 people came to collect from St Mary’s Church. Thanks so much to all involved and all who kindly donate food items.

PARISH SAFEGUARDING: Contact is Carol Flanagan. Many thanks Carol. A very important ministry.
